There is no single best glove. There is the right glove for the task, and the difference usually comes down to three questions: does it need to be sterile, does it need to resist chemicals, and how long will it be worn.
The operating theatre
Sterile, always. Surgical gloves are sized to the hand rather than S–M–L, gamma-sterilised and packed in pairs so the sterile field is never broken by a fumbled box. Prioritise tactile sensitivity and a beaded cuff that will not roll during long procedures.
The clinic and examination room
Non-sterile, high turnover, dozens of changes a day. What matters is a fast clean don, honest tactile feedback for palpation, and a fit that does not fatigue the hand. Latex gives the most natural feel; nitrile removes the allergy question for a mixed patient list.

The laboratory
Nitrile, in most cases. Solvents, oils and reagents call for chemical resistance, and nitrile also resists punctures better when sharps are in play. Its firmer structure holds up across long bench sessions.
Dental
Precision work in a small field, with high glove-change frequency. Tactile sensitivity leads, followed by grip that holds when wet.

One rule above the rest
If anyone in the room has a latex sensitivity, the decision is already made — go latex-free everywhere, not just for that person. Cross-contact through shared air and surfaces is the failure mode nobody plans for.
